Announcement- Terraform Authoring and Operations Advanced

In 2022, HashiCorp launched its lab-based certification program with the Vault Operations Professional and added the first hands-on certification exam for Terraform two years later. Since then, thousands of practitioners around the world have put their skills to the test through these intensive exams, earning industry-recognized credentials. To better reflect the expertise behind these achievements, we are excited to introduce a new Advanced category for these certifications.

We came to this decision based on years of data analysis and feedback from our Certification community. The advanced expertise demonstrated by those who earned these credentials has been inspiring and informative, and we're excited to accurately reflect the achievement these credentials represent.

What has changed?

The level of the lab-based certifications is Vault Operations Advanced and Terraform Authoring and Operations Advanced. Those who have previously passed a lab-based Vault or Terraform Professional exam will now officially be HashiCorp Certified: Advanced certification holders. This change applies to both previously earned credentials and all future credentials for these exams.

Current Vault and Terraform Professional certification holders will see their badges and certificates updated in Credly and in their HashiCorp Certifications account. These changes will happen automatically and links/shares to existing badges will still work.

With this change, there are now two levels of credentials for HashiCorp Certifications: Associate and Advanced.

What has not changed?

The exams' content and format remain the same: lab-based scenarios that require test takers to demonstrate skills using Terraform or Vault.
