Delete session recording exports
You can delete session recording exports if you no longer need them.
Boundary treats session recordings, exports, and videos as related but distinct resources. You can delete them all by deleting the parent or top-level resource, or you can delete lower-level exports or video artifacts.
Delete a top-level session recording
Deleting a session recording is the top-level deletion operation.
A session recording is the parent resource for its associated connection recordings and any lower-level artifacts derived from them. When you delete the top-level session recording, Boundary removes the session recording resource and all lower-level resources that belong to it, including exports and video artifacts.
Use top-level deletion when you want to remove the recorded session as a whole. Boundary may prevent session recording deletion based on existing storage policies.
Complete the following steps to delete a session-recording:
- Log in to Boundary.
- In the navigation menu, select Session Recordings.
- Select View on the session recording you want to delete.
- Select Manage.
- Select Delete Session Recording.
Delete lower-level export and video artifacts
Boundary also supports lower-level cleanup of derived artifacts.
If you delete a video artifact, Boundary removes the generated video file without deleting the entire session recording. Deleting the video also deletes the associated export resource.
Complete the following steps to delete a video artifact:
- Log in to Boundary.
- In the navigation menu, select Session Recordings.
- Select View on the session recording that contains the video artifact you want to delete.
- Click the ellipsis on the video you want to delete and select Delete.
Use lower-level deletion when you want to remove export-related artifacts without deleting the original session recording.
